THE MASTER NEEDS YOU
When GOD wants anything done, He takes up men who have come to the end of themselves, whose confidence is not in themselves, but in HIM.
“And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me” (2 Corinthians 12:9)
We all at one time or other listened to others preach or teach and said to ourselves, “I wish I could preach like that or that God will use me like that”. In a world that often values talent, skill, and eloquence, it's easy to feel like we need to have it all together before we can do anything for God.
But the truth is that God doesn't need our talents or eloquence to work through us. He often works most powerfully through those who are broken and humble, those who have come to the end of themselves and rely entirely on Him.
Moses was looking after sheep when God called him to lead His people out of Egypt. Moses protested, saying that he was "slow of speech and tongue" (Exodus 4:10). But God reminded Moses that He would be with him and help him to speak.
Ruth did not have some “special skill”, she was gleaning in the field. But Boaz noticed her. When Samuel was sent to the house of Jesse he thought Eliab was the chosen one. But God reminded him, “For man sees the outward appearance, but the LORD sees the heart.” (1 Samuel 16:7). Peter and Andrew were fishermen before Jesus called them. The Pharisees saw the disciples as “ uneducated, common men” (Acts 4:13).
So if you feel like you don't have what it takes to serve God, remember that God doesn't need your talents or eloquence. He just needs your willingness to be broken and humble before Him, to rely entirely on His strength and grace. The apostle Peter reminds us,
"Humble yourselves, therefore, under God's mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time" (1 Peter 5:6).
